The ‘uncertainty’ issue

The events of the last 18 months have presented everyone with a wealth of uncertainty. Whether this has been regards job security, furlough, or how to plug skills gaps going forwards, there has been lots for employers and employees to grapple with.

And while most Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted (at least for now), HR will be thinking about how it can navigate the uncertain future of work and what its key focus points should be.

To explore what the function should be looking at going forwards – and to reflect on how employers have overcome various challenges in the past – in this issue of myGrapevine magazine, we asked our advisory board experts what will be the biggest challenge for HR in the next year.

We also interviewed SodaStream’s Chief People Officer about how the firm engages with staff to ensure that they are happy at work (increasingly a key agenda point) as well as, for this issue’s cover story, speaking to Gretchen Koback-Pursel, Global Chief People Officer at Wella Company about what she’s doing to prepare for the future and why collaboration, courage and diversity is part of this.

As ever, we hope you find this content thought-provoking and useful when navigating HR best practice.
