Delivering an on-brand experience
Previously, Blue Zoo managed their recruitment using manual processes and spreadsheets, and with a growing demand for hiring new team members, they recognised the need for change. Here is what they did.
With an increasing level of interest in the studio’s creative roles, Blue Zoo wanted to create an improved candidate journey with an integrated careers site to improve the candidate experience.
Having searched for nearly a year to find the right recruitment platform that provided a customisable and flexible approach to the candidate experience, they implemented Eploy’s complete ATS & CRM platform to collaborate with the recruitment team and hiring managers.
Working with the Eploy implementation team, Blue Zoo implemented the core recruitment platform and integrated careers site to reflect their reputation for expertly crafting characterful content by their team of talent.
The brief was to deliver a great on-brand, online candidate experience aligned with their target audience and roles. The careers site needed to show those at the initial stages of engagement what it is like to work at Blue Zoo, and help candidates understand their roles by using dynamic content.
They have a flexible recruitment process that uses multiple workflows, dependent on role type and a full Recruitment CRM, to manage relationships with candidates, companies, contacts, vendors and vacancies.
Commenting on the recruitment journey, William Foulds, Talent Development Manager, said “We are attracting more international talent with our new careers site, and our hard-to-fill positions have seen an increase in applications of 60%. In our first few months, we had 1,658 people register on our careers site, which makes up 1,886 applications in total. The recruitment analytics delivered through Eploy’s customisable drag-and-drop dashboards are invaluable, and we are continually measuring and monitoring progress.”
When location has no limits
As thoughts turn to the medium to long-term outlook for recruitment, Blue Zoo’s CEO posted on Twitter recently following an interview with Cartoon Brew that now just 30% of their team live in London. Taking positives from the last 12 months and embracing remote working, Blue Zoo now has employees in Iceland, Canada, and South Africa. Some were existing staff who moved home in the pandemic; others have been hired since March. What a great example of adapting your recruitment strategy to hire the best talent regardless of location.
